It might just be the office where I work, but Ghanaians really seem to enjoy long chain text jokes. So much so that I feel compelled to share! I’ve more or less left out ones that I couldn’t make heads or tails of. Maybe I’ll save those for another day. Enjoy! 🙂
Because the best jokes are always the ones that must be explained, I’ve added a bit of background for the purposes of comprehension.
The drawing featured at the bottom-center is essentially a political cartoon. It features Yahya Jammeh, 2nd President of the Gambia, who was recently defeated in the 2016 elections. Initially, Jammeh refused to acknowledge the results of the election and chose to remain in power. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), of which Ghana is a member state, decided to deploy troops in the Gambia to pressure Jammeh to step down power. After being in power for a long 22 years, Jammeh acquiesced and went into exile.
