The Secret Ghanaian Handshake

So, I’m not sure why I’ve decided to make a full post about this, except that since my arrival I have been uncharacteristically thrilled by the Ghanaian handshake. Unlike its U.S. counterpart (in which case both people grip each other’s hands with an iron, vice-like grip and then proceed to vigorously shake up and down…you know…in case you forgot how that all works), the Ghanaian handshake is a less testosterone inducing show of strength and more of a gentle squeeze. However, the end of the handshake is what sets it apart. On the exit, both parties use the other person’s middle finger to snap. The louder the snap, the better the handshake. It’s pretty damn cool!
